As our nation celebrates another birthday I wanted to reflect on how independence can
work for us in fitness. If you are taking care of your bodies physical health through nutrition and exercise you will have independence from many chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension. You will have independence from needing medications for blood pressure and joint pains. You will have more independence to your daily routine by not having to go to the Dr. office nearly as often. You won't be limited from participating in activities with family and friends because of physical limitations. With a proper diet, you will be less likely to be carrying extra weight which leads to back problems and the long term damage the extra weight causes the knees and ankles. So as our country celebrates it's Independence Day, you should make sure you're taking the steps to celebrate your own independence, from a life of discomfort and sickness.
